Danny Steyn began racing Spec Miata with the SCCA in 2008 at the age of 50 and quickly established himself as one of the most accomplished drivers in the category. Despite being sidelined by a significant accident during the 2024 SCCA Runoffs at Road America, Danny remains committed to returning to the track as soon as possible.
Over his career, Danny has amassed 525 race starts, achieving an extraordinary 218 wins (42%), 352 podium finishes (67%), and 248 pole positions (47%). He has also set 52 lap records across 11 tracks, including iconic venues like Road America, Sebring, VIR, and Watkins Glen.
Danny’s marquee accomplishments include three SCCA Runoffs National Championships in the STL class (2021 at Indianapolis, 2019 at VIR, and 2018 at Sonoma) and seven Runoffs podiums overall. In 2018, he won the NASA National Championship in Spec Miata, adding to his three total NASA National Championship podiums. He has also claimed eight June Sprints victories, 14 ARRC wins, and two SCCA Super Sweeps.
With 26 points championships to his name, Danny is a ten-time Hoosier Super Tour champion and an eleven-time SCCA Majors SE Conference champion. His accolades also include being named Division National Driver of the Year seven times, most recently in 2024.
