Advanced Autosports is located in Beloit, WI, and is celebrating 25 years of developing, building and supporting the Spec Miata community. Founded in 1999 by Dave Wheeler who was instrumental in the origins of that class, his legacy is now carried on by his son-in-law Ben Merwin and his dedicated team of mechanics and support staff.
Having constructed over 100 Spec Miata and Spec MX-5 cars combined, Advanced Autosports has 60 plus customer and rental cars in their fleet. The popularity of the class has allowed an expansion of the team with a second race shop located at Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, IL.
With new racers young and old wanting to hit the track in Spec Miata or Spec MX-5, and returning customers enjoying the camaraderie of fellow drivers and crew members, Advanced is proud to be a family, and always remember our founder’s motto “Racing is supposed to be fun”.
Primarily supporting sanctioning bodies SCCA and Midwestern Council, the team travels all across the mid-west, calling Blackhawk Farms and Road America its home tracks. They also travel to the south January through March for those customers not wanting to wait until April to hit the track, and to earn those early Hoosier Super Tour points.
